1. Digital Communicator

This solution can be ideal for those on a budget.  This is where an alarm panel is connected to a communicator (either a telephone, mobile or pager) and sends a signal to up to 7 predefined numbers. It provides the facility to either monitor the alarm yourself (eg by calling nominated telephone numbers) or can be monitored by our Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC).

This is particularly good for large sites where you have on-site maintenance or security.

 

2. Monitoring Stations

Some insurance companies require remote monitoring. The principal is the same but the monitoring has to be maintained by an approved ARC monitoring centre like Southern Monitoring Services. 

 

This is what you need if you are required to call the Fire Brigade in an emergency.  Most insurance companies require third party monitoring as it is specifically monitoring fire and faults from the fire detection system rather than split over other systems like intruder alarms. The telephone line is supplied by British Telecom and, please note, we cannot set up the phone line – the customer has to set up an ANALOGUE (PSTN) telephone line separately.

 

If an alarm is activated through the fire detection system the call centre will either call the nominated key holders eg the site team or an approved outsourced company. For example, when people are on site the call centre would ring the site first and then the fire brigade if there was no response. At night they might ring the fire brigade first, then the keyholder and / or a company director. This is because the fire brigade needs to get there quickly rather than waiting for someone to attend site to check. The escalation depends on what the monitoring company is requested to do by yourselves.

Southern Monitoring Services

We work together with the NSI gold approved alarm receiving centre (ARC) Southern Monitoring Services. They are the largest independent ARC in the UK with over 30 years' experience and achieved the first NSI Quality Assurance ISO 9002 certificate. 

They are NSI ARC Gold accredited to provide high integrity monitoring of the monitoring of fire alarms in accordance with BS EN ISO 9001:2008, NSI SSQS 102 and BS5979:2007.
